Ubisoft has announced a new game in the Heroes of Might and Magic franchise. The top-down, fantasy, turn-based strategy series returns with Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era, set to release in Q2 2025.
The longstanding franchise was dormant for the better part of a decade. The most recent release — Heroes of Might and Magic VII — released in 2015. If Ubisoft’s Q2 estimate is correct, Olden Era will launch during the franchise’s 30th anniversary. The first Heroes of Might and Magic released in 1995, though Ubisoft has published the series since 2006.
Based on the new trailer, Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era aims to blend its classic turn-based strategy gameplay with more modern RPG elements. We get a brief look at a spell book in the trailer hinting at the title’s new active abilities system.
The new title promises a variety of gameplay modes. Solo players can dive into the non-linear single-player campaign or try the multiple single maps and limitless randomly generated scenarios. Alternatively, Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era also has co-op and PvP multiplayer. Additionally, the title includes a map editor mode where UGC content creators can craft their own stories and campaigns.
